Cr-48 Chrome notebook

I was selected to help pilot test Google's new Chrome laptop. Hooray for receiving a random box in the mail! There's a lot of things that I like about this laptop that I think Google is doing right. The matte black finish has a very nice touch and feel, almost rubberized yet smooth. It is fast, simple, and useful. It is a tarantula at browsing the web, the keyboard layout has all the keys a serious web user might need. This little web machine really is all about the internet, and it does it's job very well. It brings back the same excitement of browsing the net as I had back in the day waiting for the modem to dial-up listening to each ding and dong. However it does fall short in certain areas.

It is difficult to use the SD card slot, there is no prompt or app yet to bring easy access to your files. The touchpad can be quirky at times, getting in the way while typing large amounts. It only has one usb port. I also really wish the keys had some form of lighting to them for easier low light navigation.

Overall this device has a lot of potential, it really is a pleasure to use and I must give Google props, this product feels great and there is a sense of culture emitting from it. I could see this being a game changer, having everything on the cloud makes things things so much easier. ChromeOS just gets out of the way and let's you surf the web the way you want to.
